Giveaway!

I was inspired this morning by Linda & Opie to participate in the One World, One Heart giveaway. The idea is very simple: it's designed to bring the blogging community together. I love the idea so I am playing along.

These are the goodies I am offering up-a Tattered Pocket Journal, perfect for capturing your thought or to jot down artsy ideas and a packet of Trinkets, bubblegum machine charms. The charms are totally random and fun and would make great embellishments for just about any art project!

To be entered in the draw, please leave a comment here telling me about something kind someone did for you. Make sure you post in such a way that I can contact you (meaning it won't be helpful to post annonymously) and let me know if you too are participating in OWOH so I can play too!

I will accept entries up until 8 p.m. PST on Febrary 13th and then randomly draw a winner and post their name to my blog. Please remember to check back to see who has won! If it's you, you will then email me your mailing info and I will send out your goodies.

That's it! So what are you waiting for? Go comment! :)

Me want, me want!!! I just joined in the game too, now I have to look at everyones blogs!

Kindness-I think the most recent act of kindness that has touched me is the networking of people to help Bernie win the charity challenge. People everywhere were spreading the word, donating $$ and all pulling together to help her raise over $40K in 3weeks. All for the love of animals. Makes me cry to see people give so unconditionally.

Please enter me in your drawing. Kindness towards me? Well, I find most crafters are kind. Look at all the tutorials on the blogs. If I have a question, I ask it and I almost always get an immediate response. You mightn't appreciate this as much as me as I live in a rural area and have no craft, fabric or bead stores around. My only source is Walmart and they don't draw teachers or give classes. When you are on your own this blogging community is super for their kindness.

lovely journal. Ages ago, my husband had moved to our new home in hawaii and i was left in Calif with my 2 boys. The house sold quickly and I was overwhelmed by what i needed to accomplish. a total stranger who came to my garage sale offered to help me pack and clean up. I only had 10 days to get out, and she came for 5 days, sometimes with her children, and wanted nothing in return! She was an angel from heaven. Now THAT was kindness.

Darla said...

Hold open a door, give someone a compliment, let the other car in front of you, thank the clerk at the store for helping you. Small acts of kindness but they always seem to surprise people.

I'd love to win your drawing.

Hi Lelainia,
Something nice that my husband does for me on a regular basis is pick up lattes at my favorite coffee shop before picking me up from work. It's always a nice surprise when I get in the car to the aroma of a well-made latte.

Well, as far as kindness lately in my life, it has been the kind friends, neighbors, and family who have helped since my Mom had a stroke. For example, my Mom's nearest neighbors who insisted on doing something to help and fed my Mom's cat and the birds while she was in the hospital and in rehab and continue to help her by making sure her garbage gets taken to the road for pickup. They are the sweetest people. The husband took time to make friends with my Mom's cat(who normally doesn't like strangers) because my Mom was gone from home for over 3 weeks and he wanted to be sure she knew someone cared about her. Makes me cry to think about it even now.

Thanks for the chance to win. I hope to get something ready myself, but entering late in the game. My very new and amateur blog is at

Lovely things:) I'd love to be included!

Let's see...a kindness in the last 4 months was when we attended our little village's Martinstag (St.Martin's Day) celebration. I'm an American living in a German neighborhood and having a 2 & 1 year old 364 days apart and a husband with a crazy job I have not been able to learn as much of the language as I would have liked. I was just able to understand from the women at my playgroup that everyone was supposed to bring pretzels to the library at dusk. When my family and I walked downtown I saw that everyone was carrying little handmade lanterns on poles. We were all supposed to walk through the town singing where we would end up at a bonfire but I of course, was in the dark about the children having lanterns. It sounds silly but I really wanted a lantern for Jack to hold. Then a woman in my playgroup walked up and gave us one. We are always in the dark about things and she is one of the many who watches out for us and had brought an extra for Jack. That meant a lot, so far away from all my loved ones, trying to be a part of things here in this place that can be so foreign and then so warm and inviting. It was a lovely evening:)

What a lovely giveaway prize! My neighbor had done a really kind thing for me once that stands out. My DH travels a lot and that leaves me home alone with my 3 kids. Well, during the winter we had a very bad snow storm and I had to go out and shovel the snow! My neighbor knew my DH wasn't home and he came over with his plow and did the snow for me (driveway and sidewalk) so I didn't have to do it! I really appreciated that! I never forgot his kindness he showed!

Oh what a perfect giveaway! My valentine is a singer/songwriter and this would be perfect for poems, songs and even doodles.

One of the most kind things ever done for me would have to be when my friend spent an entire week with me after my grandfather died. Every day we did something different. We spent an entire day at the theatres, another day we stayed inside and jammed on our guitars and keyboard, we also experimented in the kitchen and made some really nice homemade bread. And she handmade me the most loving and thoughtful card. I couldnt have asked for a more comforting week. Full of big hugs and hot chocolate, and late night chats.

How ironic.... I collect antique bubblegum machines! These would make a pretty scrapbook page for me. The journal is fabulous..... I would love to win this! Please include me, and have a look at my blog to enter my giveaway, too!
