Ages ago, my friend Seth Apter asked "What's one thing that you know now that you would have liked to have known when you first started to create art?"

I have been thinking about this since you posted it.
1. Art was always looked at as a 'hobby'. Something to do in your 'spare time'. But being an artist is something that you're drawn to, and it consumes you and you have to do it. And if you are one of those people it is completely appropriate and legitimate to just go straight to art school (or not) and become an artist. I wish I knew this earlier in life.
2. I wish I realized that all the different things I've been interested in would connect in the end (and were not a waste of time if I didn't stick with one thing). That jewelery making, painting, sewing, sociology would all intersect in a place called multi-media exploring what it means to be human.
