Music & Art

A couple of weeks ago I heard this song called "Unwritten" while I was driving and instantly liked it. You are probably wondering what music has to do with art. Well for me, it's as much of my creative process as making the art. When I work, I have to have music playing in the background. It can't be just anything-it has to be music that makes me feel good. Sometimes it's the Indigo Girls. Sometimes it's Shawn Colvin , Tracy Chapman, or Jann Arden . Sometimes it's just a mix of stuff I have ripped to my computer-I have ecletic tastes. Occasionally, it's Pandora choosing the tracks. Yesterday, it was Fleetwood Mac, one album, non-stop, all day long. *grins*

Anyway, this new song is destined to be a part of my "must listen" list-I just love the lyrics and the music makes me feel happy and free.

Unwritten

I am unwritten,
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the lines
We've been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way

~Natasha Bedingfield

You can see the music video here.

I especially love the line "Live your life with arms wide open"-that is *so* me. The whole song speaks to the opportunities that lie within us to have exceptional lives, to allow ourselves to reach our unlimited potential, to live with every fibre of our being.

There's nothing like a great piece of music to inspire creativity! What's in your CD player?

in my cd player right now.

John Berry "I Give My Heart" - romantic slow dance songs.

Yesterday was an Eagles day. and Bonnie Raitt is always an option.

I also have Otis Redding, and Muddy Waters available.

When I have my teenagers with me, I even like some rap and techno stuff.

looking at this comment I an see some very ecletic music taste.
