This 'N That

Hi Folks! We're just gearing up for our Valentine's exchange! Parcels are going out in the mail by the end of this week and we'll be sharing all the photos and fun here.

In other news. we are getting slammed with sneaux on the west coast. Yesterday I had an early appointment which meant driving before the plows had had a chance to make a dent in the mess on the roads. Thank goodness for my Winnipeg upbringing! I managed to get to my destination safely and in a respectable amount of time. We got another dump overnight, which means more shovelling for my son (this is where having a big strapping young man comes in handy) and more stress for my sweet husband who is in construction and out braving the roads to get to the jobsites. It's a wonder they called him out at all today. I am just praying he gets from A to B and back again without incident. Have I mentioned lately how much I loathe January?

If you haven't checked out the Artpub Studios Blog yet, you may want to do so. We have some new members who have just launched their AP blogs and there's lots of good reading, information, inspiration and freebies there. 17 active blogs in one and counting-it doesn't get any better than that!

Taking a moment to answer a couple of questions:
1. Someone asked if the Zines I have created as my handouts were for sale on Etsy. Unfortunately, no, but thanks for asking!
2. What's up with my RSS feed? Um... that's a good question. I am pretty techie, but this is beyond me. I don't know why you can't add me to a blog feed and if I knew how to fix it, I would. I don't, but I hope you will bookmark me and pop by to peek in just the same.

Tomorrow evening is the first of 2 FREE workshops I am presenting at Poirier Library. I am hoping the weather will behave so folks will be able to attend. I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Speaking of which, I need to get things packed up and ready to go here, so I'd better run. See you tomorrow!

Notes From Away

Hi Everyone! I have been caught up in the hustle and bustle of the impending holidays. It seems I am spending hours in the mall and coming up (mostly) empty. Nothing seems to inspire me this year and I have made a firm resolution to buy everything online next year. I hate going to the mall-it kinda sucks the life out of me. My best friend Lisa gets a kick out of my Aries "take no prisoners" style of shopping: I know what I want, I know where it is, I go straight to it, buy it and get out. The less time I spend in a mall, the better.

When I'm not wandering dazed and confused in the land of retail, I have been busy overseeing the 12 Days of Xmas exchange. It's been three days so far of opening fabulous handmade gifts from my artist friends, taking photos (with the help of Caren McNee who is in group 1. THANKS Caren!) and posting them to our blog. And seriously for me, it's really not about the gifts themselves, but the love with which they are made and the kindness and generosity of all the girls. What makes this exchange so special is the fact that this is a group made up of friends. As things are being unwrapped each day, the artist whose day it is gets to bask in the glow of our grateful hearts and each gift is something we will all treasure.

I had planned to take December off, but that hasn't happened. The Universe had other plans for me and I have been working towards several deadlines. Not complaining though-I would never complain about making art! I am also preparing for a 2 month exhibit of my work that will be up on January 2nd and upcoming workshops for the new year. My new studio is stellar-it's so nice to come in, sit down and get right to work any time I want to. This month, I have been enjoying James Taylor's Xmas album while I work. Deb recommended it to me last year and I love it. Another favourite is Bruce Cockburn's. The both have less common carols on them that I really like.

If you haven't already checked out the Artpub blog, you're missing out. There's so much good stuff happening over there. I have updated my blog in the last couple of days, so go check it out!

Okay, it's time for me to return to the mall to chip away on my Xmas list. I am going to leave a trail of buttons so I can find my way back to the studio. The only bright spot is that inevitably, there will be Starbucks and where there is Starbucks, there is CHAI!

Shiney New Blog!

ArtPub Studios, an artist networking group I belong to has recently made some changes for the new year. We've got a brand new site and a group blog that has just been launched. Each member has her own individual blog within the blog and we will also be sharing art related content as a group.

My ArtPub blog will have different entries and content than Tattered Edge* does. I will be talking more in depth about the creative process and working as an artist and will be posting about once a month or so. I have already posted my first entry about setting goals and you can view it by clicking here. (I haven't had a chance to update my Artpub button on the side bar yet!) You'll want to bookmark our blog-there will be alot of cool stuff happening there!

In addition to me, you can also view content from the other members, who include:

Angela Cartwright, Deb Trotter, Deryn Mentock, Kathy Wasilewski, Lou McCulloch, Mary Beth Shaw, Pilar Pollock, Sally Turlington, Sarah Fishburn
Sylvia Luna and Tiffini Elecktra X, each an amazing and talented artist in their own right!

I hope you will enjoy this new site and all it has to offer. I am excited about what we have in the works and look forward to sharing with you!

*Don't worry-Tattered Edge isn't going anywhere! I will still be posting regularly here!
